Types of dentures
Dentures are of several types, if you have to select one denture that suits you it depends on the oral teeth and your lifestyles. Here are some of the false teeth that your dentist can prescribe you.
Fixed partial dentures
The fixed partial dentures are known as implant-supported bridges. There are abutments, that refers to the support of the surrounding teeth. The role of the fixed partial dentures is they replace a few missing teeth in a row by using two dentures implant. The implanted bridges that are built in the teeth are not removable. Here are some advantages of the fixed partial dentures-
- They provide longer protection from the oral structure.
- The implant-supported bridges are more permanent than the removable false teeth.
- They are more secure as they are permanent implantation.
- Fixed partial dentures are improved in aesthetics.
Removable partial dentures
The removable partial dentures are easy to remove. They are placed in the place of some missing teeth. Different people face different problems in their teeth, therefore in partial dentures, only some teeth are replaced with synthetic teeth. They are easily placed and easily removable dentures. They are of two types-
- Cost partial dentures- These are the tissues that are made of coloured acrylic replacement teeth including the framework that holds the material together. The dentist usually recommends this type of dentures as and when there are more upper and lower teeth remains in both jaws.
- Acrylic partial dentures- They are also known as flippers. They are made up of acrylic resin, as well as they work and look exactly as per the natural teeth. They are temporary as the gums of the teeth support the teeth. The long use of these dentures can cause gingival recession.
Complete dentures
Complete dentures are removable dentures and are replacements of all teeth. They are completely customized teeth and are made the same as the customer’s natural teeth. The conventional dentures also improve mastication that refers to the process in which you can easily cut, chew, and eat your food like normal people. There are two types of candidates for full or complete dentures.
- Elder patients- This situation most commonly takes place in elderly patients. In most cases this problem happens due to old age, hence it includes elderly patients of age sixty-five and above.
- Younger patients- They are young people who lost their teeth due to a severe injury or any tooth decay.
Immediate dentures
These are the dentures that are fixed in the place of natural teeth just after the removal of your natural teeth. These are challenging teeth as they cannot be mould easily as per the capacity and movement of your gums. They are placed temporarily till your synthetic teeth are made and they take approx six to eight weeks to build.
